Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure

How this site makes money, what that does and does not influence, and the rules that keep commercial arrangements out of editorial decisions.

The short answer

  • Some outbound links to software, courses and books are affiliate links. We may earn a commission; you pay no more.
  • Links to free resources, documentation, statistics, salary trackers and job boards are never affiliate links.
  • No paid placement. No company can buy a recommendation, a ranking or favourable coverage.
  • This site is not a recruiter, employer or job platform, and nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice.

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may receive a commission from the seller. The price you pay is unaffected.

That commission does not buy anyone a recommendation, a ranking or favourable coverage. We have no arrangement with any company that involves editorial influence, and we decline the ones that are offered.

What counts as an affiliate link here

Affiliate links on this site point to third-party products in three categories:

  • SEO software and tools — crawlers, rank trackers, visibility platforms and analytics products mentioned in skills and career guides.
  • Courses and certifications — paid training discussed in our skills and certifications coverage.
  • Books and learning resources — occasional recommendations in guides about learning SEO.

Links to free resources, official documentation, government statistics, salary trackers and job boards are not affiliate links and never have been. Neither are links between pages on this site.

How commercial links are kept out of editorial decisions

  1. Recommendations are written first. What to recommend is decided on merit before any commercial arrangement is checked. Where no affiliate programme exists for the right answer, the right answer is still what gets published.
  2. No paid placement, ever. No company can pay to appear, to rank higher in a list, or to be described more favourably. Offers to do so are declined.
  3. Negative conclusions stay negative. Several pages on this site argue against buying things. The certification ROI calculator routinely returns a negative verdict on paid courses, and it is designed to.
  4. Free alternatives are named. Where a free option does the job, it is stated plainly, even when a paid alternative would pay a commission.

What this site is not

Three clarifications that matter:

  • Not a recruiter or employer. We do not place candidates, hold job listings, take fees from hires or have any relationship with the companies discussed as employers. Where job boards are listed, it is as a directory, not a partnership.
  • Not financial, legal or tax advice. Salary figures, calculators and compensation guidance are informational. Contract structures, self-employment tax and cross-border employment all have jurisdiction-specific rules — consult a qualified professional before acting.
  • Not a guarantee of outcomes. Salary bands are aggregated market estimates for orientation. They are not offers, valuations, or predictions about what any individual will be paid.

Advertising, tracking and your data

This site does not run display advertising. The free tools run entirely in your browser: the salary calculators, the resume scorer and the interview answer builder never transmit what you type, because there is no server component to transmit it to.

Our privacy policy covers what is and is not collected. Questions about any of this go to [email protected].
