What this site is
SEO Job Search is an independent editorial resource about careers in search marketing. It publishes guides on what the roles are, what they pay in different markets, what employers screen for, how hiring processes actually run, and how the field is changing as AI reshapes search.
It is not a recruiter, an employer, a job platform or an agency. Nobody here places candidates, takes a fee from a hire, or has a commercial interest in which job you take.
Who writes it
Content is researched and edited by Thibault Besson Magdelain, an SEO practitioner who works in search marketing and writes here in an editorial capacity. You can verify that background on LinkedIn.
The perspective throughout is that of someone who has done the work rather than someone summarising other people's summaries. Where a claim rests on published data rather than experience, the data is cited and linked so you can check it yourself. Where something is a judgement call, it is written as one.
On the limits of one perspective
A single editorial voice is a real constraint, and we would rather state it than pretend otherwise. Salary data comes from public trackers and job advertisements, not from a proprietary dataset. Market observations are informed by experience in specific markets and may generalise imperfectly to yours. If something here contradicts what you are seeing, your evidence is probably better than ours — tell us and we will correct it.
How it is funded
The site is reader-supported through affiliate relationships. Some outbound links to courses, certifications and software are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something after clicking one. It costs you nothing extra.
Three commitments constrain that arrangement:
- No paid placement. Nobody can buy a recommendation, a ranking or a mention. Products are included because they are relevant, and excluded because they are not.
- No sponsored career advice. The guidance is not shaped by who pays a commission. Where the honest answer is 'do not buy this', that is what the page says — as in our certification ROI calculator, which regularly concludes that a course is not worth it.
- Disclosure everywhere. A disclosure appears in the footer of every page, and the full disclosure page explains the arrangement in detail.
How content is researched
Every substantive claim falls into one of three categories, and each is handled differently:
