SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:

We are seeking an experienced SEO Manager who will use their detailed understanding of and strong passion for search engine optimization to help drive best practices, brand awareness and growth across our digital ecosystem. The SEO Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing and managing the SEO strategy for the VCA digital ecosystem which includes our corporate website (VCA.com) as well as our 1000+ U.S. primary care, specialty care, hybrid, ER, urgent care hospital websites and boarding & grooming facilities as well as our eCommerce and myVCA patient portal, plus various microsites and campaign landing pages.

The right candidate will be an analytical and perceptive professional, adept at crunching numbers and applying critical thinking to derive creative solutions that deliver a holistic SEO strategy at both the national and local level. The SEO manager must have proven success with all SEO activities, including technical SEO, on and offsite optimization, link building, map pack ranking, content and keyword optimization strategies to increase organic traffic and rankings on all major search engines that, in turn, drives meaningful revenue impact for our business.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Develop, document and implement unified SEO strategies and best practices across digital ecosystem that drive long-term, sustainable traffic and conversions.

Build and prioritize SEO roadmap based on business impact, level of effort and risk to help acquire new traffic and engage/convert existing traffic.

Work closely with web developers, content managers, marketing team and other internal stakeholders to clearly define overarching and project-based SEO objectives, optimization strategies/tactics, technical requirements and content gaps.

Execute (or work with developers and content managers to execute) SEO strategies and tactics, conduct acceptance testing and report on progress across projects and growth goals.

Create training and playbooks for field, marketing, agency partners and content managers that support opportunities for ranking improvements, traffic growth and conversion.

Identify and capitalize on major events and tentpole topics to maximize organic traffic and conversions.

Remain current on industry trends, technologies and ongoing changes to search engine algorithms to evolve SEO recommendations based on landscape and convey potential business impacts.

 

Data & Performance Metrics

Perform market research, keyword research, technical site assessment, content gap analysis, ongoing digital ecosystem analysis and competitive analysis to develop and implement informed SEO strategies based on current business and operational priorities.

Establish SEO KPI benchmarks and goals and regularly monitor and report on actionable insights, opportunities, deficiencies and solutions.

Utilize digital traffic resources for data analysis to identify key pages, search queries and content generating top traffic volume, leads, key business conversions and eCommerce purchases.

Regularly monitor digital metrics leveraging data to continually refine strategy and identify/implement testing opportunities.

Distill SEO performance measurements and data visualizations into clear, concise reports and recommendations for stakeholder and executive level presentation.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

BA/BS

7+ years enterprise and multi-location SEO experience

SEO for ecommerce a big plus; experience in health care and/or CPG a plus

Proficiency with enterprise level Sitecore platform and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Power BI.

 

Proven experience with:

HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Universal Analytics, Google Analytics 4, Google Data Studio
Google Search Console, Core Web Vitals
Familiarity with relevant tools:

Screaming Frog, MOZ, SEMrush, BrightLocal, Ahrefs, Conductor, among others
*All degrees will be deemed “or equivalent combination of education and experience” unless absolutely required to do the job (i.e., DVM degree for Veterinarian, Law degree for Attorney, etc.).

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Skilled communicator across all levels of the organization, able to effectively distill and relay highly technical and analytical information to stakeholders.

Knowledge of ranking factors, search engine algorithms and structural updates and their impact(s).

Experience executing keyword research, listing and page optimization and technical site audits.

Proven success in eCommerce SEO, copywriting, content strategy development and link building.

Highly data-driven with demonstrable success driving and growing digital performance.

Experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Data Studio and other third-party analytics and optimization tools.

Additional Information

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $66,700 – $100,100. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
